Imagine a conductor as a room full of playful puppies. 🐶 Now, if there was a force inside the room, like a big fan blowing air, the puppies would move away from the fan to the corners to avoid the strong wind.
But in our conductor room, If we turn off the fan (which is like the external electrostatic field), then there’s no force pushing the puppies around. They can relax anywhere in the room.
This is what happens with the charges (our puppies) in a conductor when the electrostatic field (the fan) is zero, the charges are evenly spread out and are stationary. This random arrangement cancels out all the internal electrostatic field and thus net electrostatic field inside becomes zero.
